What we keep, and why.
EreLoN makes digital menus for cafés and restaurants. This page explains, in plain words, what our menus and venue login store and what we do with it.
- IDiners stay anonymous. Reading a menu or ordering never asks for your name, number or email.
- IINothing follows you around. No analytics, no ads, no tracking pixels. Fonts come from our own server.
- IIINothing is sold. We don't sell or rent data to anyone, and we don't use it for advertising.
Who we are
EreLoN runs the menu pages, the venue login and the systems behind them, and is responsible for the data on this page. Each café decides what goes on its own menu.
Questions or requests: menu@erelon.in, +91 81369 03369, or WhatsApp.
If you're eating at a café
Reading a menu saves nothing about you, beyond the hosts' short-lived technical logs (see 05).
Ordering from your table (where a café has it switched on) gives your phone an anonymous guest pass: a random code with no name, number or email attached. We save what you ordered, any short note you add to a dish, the table, the time and the total, so the café can make it and bring the bill.
Your location is only asked for when a table is unusually busy or a new phone joins a table's bill, to stop prank orders from outside the café, and only if your phone agrees. Your position is used once to work out how far you are from the café and is then thrown away. Only that distance is kept, and the staff are shown it if you seem far away. If you say no, you can still order; the staff simply see “no location”.
If you run a café
We keep your sign-in email and your password. We never see the password itself: it is stored scrambled (“hashed”) by our database provider. We also keep what you give us for your menu: the venue's name, address, contact number and opening hours, your dishes, prices and photos, and your table list. Menu details and photos are public by design, since that is the menu.
For ordering we keep each staff phone you pair, the short name you give it, and the address its browser gives us for sending it order alerts. We also keep a log of changes we make to your café's settings from our admin panel, so either of us can see what changed and when.
What's saved on your phone
These are the only things the site stores in your browser. Each one is needed for something you asked to do, which is why there is no cookie banner. If we ever add analytics or anything that tracks you, we will ask first.
| What | Where | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| Intro played | EreLoN's own site | So the opening animation plays once per visit, not on every page load | Until you close the tab |
| Sign-in | Venue login and our admin panel | Keeps a café owner signed in | Until you sign out |
| Guest pass | Menus that take orders, only once you start an order | Keeps your orders and your bill yours | Until you clear your browser's data |
| Tray and order | Menus that take orders | Keeps the dishes you picked if the page reloads | Until you clear your browser's data |
| Table | Menus that take orders | Remembers which table you tapped | Until you close the tab |
| Staff pairing | Phones a café pairs for its staff | Lets that phone receive the café's orders | Until the café unpairs the phone |
Who else handles it
Supabase runs our database and Vercel hosts the site. The database is stored in Mumbai, India, and the site's servers run there too; Vercel delivers the finished pages from its worldwide network so they open fast. Like any website host, they keep short-lived technical logs, which can include your internet (IP) address, to keep the service running and secure.
Order alerts to a staff phone travel through that phone browser's own notification service (Google, Apple or Mozilla). If you email or WhatsApp us, your message is handled by Google or WhatsApp under their own privacy terms.
How long we keep it
Orders are kept as the café's record of what was ordered and billed. A café's account, menu and orders are kept while it uses EreLoN; when a café leaves, we delete them when the café asks us to.
Your choices
You can ask us what we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it, using the contact details above. Diners: because your orders carry no name, tell us the café, table and roughly when, and we will find them.
If we don't sort out a concern, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Changes
If what we store changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top moves.
